FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

To provide you with insight into our woman-owned, family-operated small business, we’ve gathered below a few questions that we’ve received over the years from our customers. We hope that you find this information helpful. If you have other questions that aren’t answered here, we’d love to hear from you.

RATHER THAN PLACING AN ONLINE ORDER, MAY I CALL IN AN ORDER?
Yes. Please call 413-822-0924. Monday through Friday 9-5 EST.

WILL YOU SELL MY PERSONAL INFORMATION?
No. The information that you provide us with is for our internal use only.

WHERE ARE YOUR PRODUCTS MADE?
Our products are manufactured in India. All factories have been screened and certified that there is no child labor. We enjoy visiting our manufacturers.

WHAT SIZE SHOULD I ORDER?
You can check our garment specs listed at the bottom of each item to see which size would suit you best. We recommend ordering your usual letter size. The cut of our cotton pajamas is basically a true-to-size fit. Meaning they are not oversized. If you are in between the sizes, it would be best to order up. If in doubt, please feel free to give us a call to discuss your circumstances. 413-822-0924

DOES YOUR SLEEPWEAR SHRINK?
The nature of all 100% cotton fabric is that it initially shrinks. Needham Lane has taken this into consideration when creating the patterns. Cotton will shrink about 2-3%. Most of the shrinkage will occur in the length. You can minimize shrinkage by washing it in cold water and hanging it to dry.

WHAT KINDS OF FABRICS DO YOU USE?
All our items are made from 100% woven cotton. Our sleepwear is made from natural cotton poplin, voile, and cambric. For an explanation of each type of cotton fabric, please see our Fabric Guide.

WHAT IS THE BEST FABRIC FOR SLEEPWEAR?
Cotton remains one of the best sleepwear fabrics out there. Other fabrics that you might consider are bamboo, silk, or linen. Cotton is a natural fiber and allows for airflow to and away from the body. If you’re looking for a cool night’s sleep, perhaps prone to night sweats, cotton is breathable and helps you to stay dry and comfortable throughout the night. All our sleepwear collection is made from 100% woven cotton. Not knit.

IS POPLIN A GOOD FABRIC FOR SLEEPWEAR?
We love working in woven cotton poplin. Our crisp poplin is soft and comfortable to wear throughout the year. Our poplin drapes well and doesn’t cling to you like knit sleepwear. Cotton has a wonderful fiber quality. It’s durable yet remains cool against your body.

Poplin is easy-to-care-for sleepwear that we offer in cotton robes, long sleeve pajamas, sleeveless capri, short sleeve, nightshirts, and lounge pants. Often, we hear from our customers saying they are delighted their cotton poplin sleepwear has lasted for many years.

WHY DO YOU OFFER COTTON VOILE AND CAMBRIC?
Both voile and cambric are best suited for the hottest time of the year. If you’re hot all year round, these two fabrics would be perfect. The difference between cotton voile and cambric is minimal. Both are lightweight cotton suitable for when you want the lightest of fabrics against your skin.

Cambric is slightly heavier than voile. In your hand, they would feel very similar and have nearly the same weight. Cambric, however, has a tighter weave, thicker yarn and is less sheer than voile and makes the softest nightgown. We use cambric for our collection of pure white nightshirts and nightgowns.

“Voile” is French for veil. To offset the sheerness of the voile, we print on the fabric which makes it less see-through. It’s like wearing air, but with our wonderful prints on it.

HOW DO YOU RECOMMEND CARING FOR NEEDHAM LANE SLEEPWEAR?
Machine wash with like colors on the Cotton/Normal cycle in warm water. Do not dry-clean or use bleach, or “bleach-like” products. Tumble dry on low. Washing as directed will assure many years of wear and comfort.

WHAT IS YOUR RETURN POLICY?
Your satisfaction is important to us. If you are dissatisfied with your selection, you may return it for an exchange or a refund, (excluding shipping fees) for up to 14 days from the delivery date. Returns made after 14 days will not be eligible for refund or exchange.

Without exception, the item must be in its original packaging, be unworn, unused, unwashed, and in perfect condition. The customer is responsible for the cost of return shipping. If you are exchanging an item, we will pay the return shipping cost of sending a replacement item to you.
